With the 2018 Farm Bill well under our belts, and implementation of the USDA Rules well underway, let’s take a look at how the world is changing under the new regime. The sunset of the old administrative regimes left over from the 2014 Farm Bill and the rise of the 2018 Farm Bill regulations have created a new way to navigate the hemp industry. Join us to take a look at the terrain ahead.

General

This program is eligible for 1 hours of General CLE credit in 60-minute states, and 1.2 hours of General CLE credit in 50-minute states. Credit hours are estimated and are subject to each state’s approval and credit rounding rules. 

INCBA webinars are generally eligible for credit in the following states: AR, AL, CA, CO, GA, HI, IL, NJ, NM, NY, ND, PA, TX, VT. Additional states may be available for credit upon self-application by attendees. States typically decide whether a program qualifies for MCLE credit in their jurisdiction 4-8 weeks after the program application is submitted. Active in the community, Shawn currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Cannabis Bar Association and previously served on the steering committee of the American Hemp Campaign—a project of Vote Hemp—which was instrumental in legalizing hemp in Texas in 2019.

Well-regarded in her field, Shawn has received many accolades. She was named one of the top cannabis lawyers in the United States Chambers and Partners and was recognized by her peers in The Best Lawyers in America® for her work in cannabis law. A nationally recognized attorney, Garrett Graff specializes in the representation of both the marijuana and industrial hemp industries. Garrett’s practice involves corporate and M&A, real estate, regulatory/compliance, FDA/FTC compliance, intellectual property protection, and civil and commercial litigation. Mitzi Vaughn is a shareholder at Karr Tuttle Campbell in Seattle, Washington. She is an internationally recognized attorney who has spent more than a decade representing cannabis and hemp clients in complex corporate transactions and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, national and international expansion, and governance. Mitzi was a founding board member of the International Cannabis Bar Association and currently sits on its advisory board.

Mitzi has spoken in Zurich, in the Irish Parliament (Oireachtas), and before the Hawai'i Legislature; she consulted with the Jamaican Cannabis Licensing Authority prior to their medical rollout. She has negotiated and drafted Washington State cannabis laws, regulations, and policies, has served as General Counsel to The Cannabis Alliance (WA) for nearly a decade. Mitzi is also a Board Member for the Drug Reform Coordination Network, an international drug policy organization which has consultative status at the United Nations. 

Mitzi was awarded a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law, studied international human rights at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, and earned a B.A. in History, magna cum laude, from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
