Description

Irish lawyer, Niall Neligan will give an overview of the current situation concerning the regulation of cannabis for medical and novel food use in Ireland. Whilst cannabis remains prohibited for adult use, like many jurisdictions there's a vibrant cannabis community and a strong presence from North American cannabis companies who view Ireland as a launchpad into the larger European market.

Niall will discuss cannabis jurisdiction, legislation, regulation, Medical Cannabis Access Programme (MCAP, the Specified Controlled Drugs (Cannabis-Based Medical Products), indications, CBD - Novel Foods (Conflict of Laws), and adult use in the Republic of Ireland.

General

This program is eligible for 1 hours of General CLE credit in 60-minute states, and 1.2 hours of General CLE credit in 50-minute states. Credit hours are estimated and are subject to each state’s approval and credit rounding rules. 

INCBA webinars are generally eligible for credit in the following states: AR, AL, CA, CO, GA, HI, IL, NJ, NM, NY, ND, PA, TX, VT. Additional states may be available for credit upon self-application by attendees. A graduate of Maynooth University and the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, University College Dublin, Niall studied law at the Honorable Society of Kings Inns and was called to the Irish Bar in 1999 practising on the Dublin & Eastern Circuit in Civil, Employment and Criminal Law. His research field is Drug Policy Law Reform and Cannabis Regulation.

This public policy document sets out a comprehensive framework for the regulation of cannabis for Medical and Adult use in Ireland. The document was formally launched in Leinster House (Irish Parliament) on the 11th of July 2018.
