Transatlantic Trade of Hemp-Derived Products: Navigating Regulations and Tackling Uncertainties

In this session the panelists will discuss international hemp-derived products trade. More specifically, the panelists will offer an overview of what transatlantic trade of hemp-derived products (food products, cosmetic products, vaping products…) for consumer use looks like with a particular focus on import and export of these products from the US market to the EU and/or the UK market(s) and from the EU and/or the UK to the USA.

The panelists will provide insights on how to navigate the complex and constantly evolving regulation as well as on the practical and legal difficulties operators can face as a result of different applicable regulations and non-foreseeable harmonization (e.g. authorized strains, maximum THC levels authorized in the strains used for extraction and in finished products, novel food in the EU and in the UK and the US Regulator’s evolving position in this regards, cosmetic regulations…).

The panelists will also offer predications on the future of transatlantic and international trade of hemp-derived products in light of the expected evolutions in the EU, the UK and the USA regulations and share their views on how the remaining uncertainties will impact the growing of international trade of these products.
